Nest Thermostat Review

Nest : Learning Thermostat

Nest are starting to stamp their name on the smart products industry, and one of their most popular products is their smart Learning Thermostat.  The Nest thermostat not only auto-schedules when to switch on and off to heat your home, but also can control hot water schedules in the house.

I have heard of this sort of technology becoming more common recently, but Nest seemed to have got it spot on in the Learning Thermostat, encapsulating high quality technology with user friendly apps, making the whole process of making your heating system smart extremely easy.

Once you connect the thermostat to the Wi-Fi, the app can be accessed remotely from anywhere, and as long as you have an internet connection, you can control the heating in your house.  This ground-breaking technology is what really gives Nest’s Learning Thermostat the wow factor in my opinion.

The thermostat contains a feature called Auto-Away, which is effective whether you are going to town for an hour or are going on holiday for two weeks.  The thermostat turns itself down automatically when Auto-Away is switched on, saving you energy and money in the long run.  When used with other smart products such as the Nest Protect, this feature can keep your household running perfectly until you return.

In further pursuit of environmental conservation, the thermostat will show a Nest Green Leaf on the sleek display when you choose a temperature that saves energy, indicating to you what temperatures are more suitable for energy saving.

These features really set Nests product apart from the rest in an increasingly competitive market, and although the retail price of £249 may ward potential interest away, I would strongly urge you to reconsider as the thermostat will probably save you that much within its first year of use compared to a normal heating system.
